[Review] Walk the Line by J. Kenner

Elena is too young for me, not to mention she’s my boss’s daughter and my babysitter.

That’s beyond complicated. And I’m not even looking for a relationship — but I can’t deny the attraction that sizzles between us.

I need to ignore it. A single dad, all I want is to take care of my little girl, do my job, and enjoy my friends. Anything more is asking for complications I can’t afford. Asking to be hurt again.

Trouble is, I want her, too. And when out flirty sparks turn to flames, I give in to temptation. Our secret fling is scorching hot, better than I’d ever imagined.

But secrets get out, and I could lose my job and my reputation.

And I am starting to realize she’s the one thing I’m not willing to lose.

I’m so sad this series is over! I loved coming to The Fix every month and seeing all these couples fall in love. Brent and Elena are no different.

Single dad to the little munchkin Faith we have seen a few times, and daughter to Boss-man Tyree make for the cutest couple. Yes, he’s older. Yes, he’s a single dad. None of that matters to Elena though. She has had her eye on her Brent from the beginning and finally, he is beginning to see her.

Little does she know that he has had his eye on her the whole time too. His age and status in the bar has kept him at bay, but when she’s babysitting Faith one night for him, all walls are down and they finally decide to take a chance on each other. It may be the best thing either of them has ever done.

Super-love to this couple. I’ve been waiting for Brent’s story since book one when we first met him and I wanted more. Kenner delivered on this whole series and they will be on the reread list for years to come.

[Review] Light My Fire by J. Kenner

I don’t do relationships.

I’ve lived my life hiding my scars, revealing myself only the in the scripts I write and the characters I voice.

Few people know the real me. I’m too careful. Too afraid of getting burned all over again.

Enter Beverly Martin. A movie star. A woman so beautiful and caring she makes my heart ache. She says she wants me—and her touch almost makes me believe that a girl like her could love a man like me.

But being with her would mean letting the spotlight of fame shine on me, too. And I’m not sure I can do that—even if walking away means losing the woman I love.

Cam and Bev’s story is for the Hollywood stars in us all.

Scarred from an accident when he was young, Cam keeps himself guarded from most of the world. When a script he writes gets picked up as a movie, and he falls for the main lady, he starts thinking that outside appearances aren’t as important as what’s inside (though he still wants his Mr November pictures edited).

One of the cuter stories of this series (and we get to see the Fix! which I felt was missing from some of the others), I loved how Cam and Bev’s story grew both individually and as a couple. I thought the ending was a bit rushed, but I loved the contest scene *swoon*. 4.5 stars!

[Review] In Too Deep by J. Kenner

Hannah Donovan is not my type.

Intellectual and career-focused, she’s a lawyer, and an intimidatingly beautiful one, at that. I’d rather pump iron than open a book, and the only reason I’d go to court would be for a traffic ticket.

She’s the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen. So how can I turn down her plea that I pretend to be her fiancé for one weekend?

But I never expected our pretend kisses to feel so real … or for it to lead to a wild night in bed that will forever stand out as the highlight of my sex life.

Our performance convinces everyone, but it was never meant to be more than a fantasy. A short term gig before reality sets back in.

I can’t imagine ever being good enough for her, but I’m hooked. And now I’m determined to do whatever it takes to make this fake engagement real.

Each novel in the series is a STANDALONE romance with a guaranteed HEA!

Hannah and Matthew’s story is one for the books.

When Matthew agrees to be Hannah’s fiancee for a weekend, to impress her parents so she can get her inheritance, he never imagines what it would lead to. Unfortunately, her parents see through the ploy which leaves Hannah questioning what is more important to her – true love or her career, because she’s certain she cannot have both.

One of my favourites from this series so far! Matthew and Hannah had a friendship turned romance which is what I personally love to read, though I wish we got to see more of The Fix (I think we went into the bar twice?) or at least had more emphasis on the contest.

[Review] All Night Long by J. Kenner

I wear designer suits on my body by day and gorgeous women on my arm at night. Some might call me arrogant, with my chiseled jaw and my dark blue eyes. Add in my money and I can get any woman I want.

Now, I want her.

The night I spent with Selma has lived in my most erotic dreams. And ever since she swept back into my life, with her flashing eyes and delicious body, I want nothing more than to make sultry new memories.

But with an election coming up, and an office I want to fill, it isn’t the right time to get involved with a free-spirited girl with a wild streak. A girl who doesn’t abide by the rules. A girl who could get me noticed in all the wrong ways.

A girl who makes me crazy … in all the right ones.

Now I’m going to have to decide: Walk the straight and narrow? Or have the hottest, wildest affair of my life with the sexiest woman I’ve ever known?

Meet Mr. September –
He’s got the moves to make a woman blush.

Easton and Selma’s story starts years before we meet them on a one night stand. They never left each other’s minds, but life took them on different paths.

Him, on the straight and narrow on his way to becoming a judge.
Her, wherever the wind takes her, though she has made a name of herself making a brand of whiskey that she sells especially to the local bar, The Fix.
When she decides to sell her brand and move across the world, she contacts Easton to help her close the deal. He begrudgingly decides to help her as the two fall back into the same pattern as before; a little bit of fun until life interferes. This time though, Easton doesn’t want to play by life’s rules.

A quick story that leaves you wanting more, I wasn’t the biggest fan of these two. They had chemistry but it had very little drama, and I was expecting a bit more. Sweet overall, but I am hoping to see more of these two!

[Review] Shake It Up by J. Kenner

There are a million reasons why I need to stop thinking about Taylor D’Angelo naked.

She’s too young for me, for starters.

She’s too ambitious.

She’s my job.

Romance was the last thing on my mind when I agreed to look into her stalker as a favor.

Now, she’s all I can think about–and in every position I can imagine.

I’m not the only one obsessing.

The threats against her are intensifying along with our connection.

If I give in, if I let our bodies take over, it could draw her stalker out.

Our passion could save her.

Or it could destroy us both.

Meet Mr. August – He’ll do anything to protect her.

Say hello to my new favourites of this fabulous series. Taylor and Landon’s story kept me on my toes right from the start.

We ended our last story with a brick being thrown through Taylor’s car. When more mysterious things begin to happen, she no longer thinks the brick was an accident. Brent, head of security at The Fix, has a friend of his step in and look into the situation. Landon is perfect for the job but unfortunately he finds it hard to focus when Taylor is around him.

The love story, the background plot, the side characters.. everything about this one just fit. It was nice to see a story where not just the love story was the main conflict, though you can’t help but root for these two all the way along. Loved it!

In Your Eyes by J. Kenner

Possessive hands. Wild obsession.
He’ll break any rule to claim her.

Billionaire bad boy Parker Manning buried his dark past beneath fast cars and faster women. With his chiseled good looks and Texas oil legacy, Parker’s used to laying claim to whatever—or whoever—he desires, and he’s never met a woman he couldn’t seduce into his bed.

Not, that is, until Megan Clark. Years ago, she flatly refused him. Now, she’s back—and she needs a favor. No way is Parker letting her get away again, and he conditions his agreement on one sensuous night with Megan in his bed and at his mercy.

He never expects to want more. To crave this woman who fascinates and challenges him. But he does, and now he’s determined to possess her.

But Megan’s a woman with secrets of her own, and if Parker wants to claim her, he’s going to have to conquer his past and show Megan his true heart.

Meet Mr. June. Summer’s heat has nothing on him.

While Parker and Megan’s story was hot and heavy, I felt their history was missing from this story. How they get together all starts with an over excited Megan printing a flyer for The Fix’s Man of the Month calendar, starring Parker Manning; without Parker’s permission.
Luckily, Parker has been lusting after Megan for years. She slipped through his fingers before, he won’t let that happen again.

There was build up without the exciting conclusion for me and while I am loving the overlap of this Bar and it’s customers/staff, the stories are getting shorter and shorter for me. I am hopeful for Mr July, though Mr June sure was yummy.

Get It On by J. Kenner

Skillful hands. A talented tongue.
Meet Mr. May.

Fate’s been messing with veteran Tyree Johnson. It took his buddies in combat and his wife in a fatal car accident. But he’ll be damned if he’ll let Fate take his beloved bar, The Fix on Sixth.

For years, he’s avoided being Fate’s whipping boy through sheer force of will, and now every bit of his focus is centered on saving his business. Until, that is, the first woman who ever touched his heart walks back into his life—along with a daughter he never knew.

After years of loneliness, Tyree’s not prepared for the way Eva’s sensual curves and sharp wit still capture his heart and rekindle his senses. All he knows is that for the first time in forever, he’s found a passion other than his bar. But one final twist arrives when Fate pits the bar he can’t bear to lose against the woman who’s stolen his heart.

He’s a master at red-hot ecstasy.

I was really excited to read Tyree’s story… and it just didn’t do it for me. Where was the interaction with him and the bar staff? Where was his POV on the bar and the reason for his contest?

When a blast from his past comes back into his life, he is all confused (for about half a chapter) then he’s pretty much fine except that he can’t get over the fact that moving on feels like he is disrespecting his late wife. Fair enough but it seemed like it was missing something. Yes, there isn’t the same passion or humour as the first few books have had – but I was waiting for more drama or something less cookie-cutter to happen.

Still, Tyree is one of the faves from this series and Book 5 is just as sweet a read as the rest of them!

Hold On Tight by J. Kenner

2 - February - Hold On Tight

A hard body.  A dangerous past.

Meet Mr. February.

Reality-TV star and reformed bad boy Spencer Dean doesn’t trust women. Not after his fiancée, Brooke, left him at the altar five years ago, breaking his heart and hardening his soul.

Now, Brooke is close to a deal for her own show that will launch with the remodel of a popular Austin bar. The problem? The network insists that Spencer step in as her partner.

He’s tried to forget her—but he can’t deny that he still wants her. More than that, he wants to punish her. And so he agrees, but only on terms that are provocative, demanding, and wildly sensual.

It’s the perfect set-up for extracting revenge. But he doesn’t expect to fall for Brooke all over again…

Revenge never looked so hot.

**Hold On Tight is part of a binge read series by New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Publishers Weekly, and #1 International bestselling author of the million copy Stark series, J. Kenner.

Overlapping with Mr January’s story, here comes Mr February …

Spencer has never wanted for much. His childhood was rough but it was all worth it when Brook Hamlin came into his life. She was his from the moment he pulled off the road to help her change her tire. When she left him, she took his heart with her.

Now that the two are being forced to do this T.V show together – remodeling The Fix while filming the Man of the Month contest – he wants his revenge; She broke his heart, now he’s going to break her… until she looks at him with those big eyes and he sees something new there. Then he’s back to where he was the day she left him.

A raw and heart-racing read, Spencer and Brooke’s story is one you cannot put down. Getting both POV’s, plus the back story of what really happened all those years ago, will pull at your heart strings (and your drawstrings *fans self*). Love, manipulation, and the power one has when you love someone is shown throughout this whole story in many ways. Absolutely breathtaking.
