Lick by Torrie Robles

LICK2 - EBOOK COVER (1)Mothers are supposed to love you. Support you. Protect you.

Not mine, mine did none of those things. – Not one.

My mother taught me that her addiction was stronger than her love for me. Her high was all that mattered.  That’s all she needed, all she wanted. Grown men and women took payment from me, so she could get her fix. They took everything from me, just a child, her only son.

Motherly love? Fuck that.

I’ve spent my life taking from bitches all too willing to give it up – whores, sluts, The Fallen – you name it, I’ve had a piece of it, of them. It’s how I earned the name Lick. I’ve licked every part of a bitch’s body.  Until her -Jenni.

From the moment she sashayed her hips up the dirt path of our clubhouse I knew I was fucked. Curves for days, sweet tits that begged to be sucked. A heart of gold. I know it’s a fucking cliché, but she was different.

She challenged me – Pushed me

Jenni made me see I’ve spent my life being blind, that I was worth something.

She taught me love doesn’t use.

It’s not twisted, it doesn’t hurt and it doesn’t cost a thing.

I’ll do anything to make her happy.  I’ll do whatever the fuck it takes to keep her by my side. She’s far too precious for me, but I’ll be damned if I’ll let her go.

Caveman by Jo Raven

JRCavemanBookCover55x85_MEDIUM-1Matthew Hansen is the kind of handsome that has grown women whispering behind their hands and giggling like schoolgirls.

Dark, tall and mysterious, he’s a newcomer to our little town. He’s a gritty, grease-covered mechanic, and a single daddy.

Sweet, right?

Plus he’s looking for a nanny – and I am desperately looking for a job.

Sounds like the perfect deal.

Only he’s a jerk. An uncivilized, hulking brute. Zero manners. Zero interest in making me feel welcome in his home. Downright rude.

But oh so sexy.

And I need the job. I can do this.

One thing is for sure: I can’t fall for the Caveman. No matter how sexy he is. How mysterious. How tortured.

That’s the only rule – and one I’m about to break.

Born To Be Bound by Addison Cain

Alphas-Claim-1-Bound-v2.1Surrender is not survival.

Claire is desperate. Her once thriving city lies in ruins. The strongest of the three human dynamics, Alphas, have grown feral. Common Betas circle like vultures. The lowest in the hierarchy, rare and weak Omegas like Claire, are being destroyed. Sheltering amidst a dwindling enclave of frightened Omega women, Claire cannot provide enough to feed them all; her friends are starving.

All due to one escaped convict’s violent rise to power.

Shepherd is every bit as ruthless as his reputation suggests. Despite taking every possible precaution, Claire is captured and her worst nightmare realized. Shepherd, discovering a rare Omega in his midst, claims her like a prize, forcing a pair-bond that ties her to him forever.

She fights her instincts and his will, because no matter how manipulative the bond might be, she despises what he’s done to her people. If she cannot find a way to help her friends, if she cannot escape, everyone she loves will die.

Publisher’s Note: The first book in Addison Cain’s exciting, raw, and suspense-filled Omegaverse series is a dark tale with explicit sexual themes and complete power exchange. Though situations may by be interpreted as romantic, this is a story about the effect of extreme circumstances on the human psyche and the consequences of obsession—not a standard romance. If such material offends you, please do not purchase.

My Best Friend’s Ex by Meghan Quinn

MYBestFriendsExAmazonCoverWhen I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson.

Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn’t be that big of a deal since Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he’s still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I’m trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer.

Boy, was I wrong.

Rules are set, dinners are made, conversations are had, and a shirtless, swoony roommate walks around in nothing but a pair of black briefs, ruining me for every other man.

Before I know it, I turn into a panting, lust-filled woman begging for Tucker to kiss me, touch me, and show me exactly what is hiding under those briefs.

But with great orgasms, comes great consequences.

Tucker might be my friend and roommate but he’s also my best friend’s ex-boyfriend, making him completely off-limits. At least that’s what my brain is telling me, my heart is speaking an entirely different language.

Dirty Princes by Jo Raven

JRDirtyPrincesBookCover6x9_BW_MEDIUMDirty Princes by Jo Raven
Series: Hot Candy #3
Genre: contemporary
e4584-addtogoodreads

A sexy new standalone novel from New York Times Bestselling Author Jo Raven.

DIRTY PRINCES is a laugh-out loud tale about a funny girl and her two super-hot boys.

Once upon a time, there lived a princess called Brylee who had a cat and a steady job and her eye on a handsome prince.

But Prince Ryan refused to put out.

And then Riddick walked through the door and ate her cookie.

Literally, okay? It was a good cookie, too, with chocolate chip.

Riddick is drop-dead gorgeous, but not a prince. Regardless, Brylee can’t fight that burning attraction.

Even when Ryan suddenly becomes interested in her.

This isn’t how things were supposed to happen. She was supposed to get a prince, not get caught between a hot prince and a hunky pauper.

Come on.

Brylee isn’t above letting two men fight for her. After all, that’s the essence of a good fairytale, right? A fight, a winner, a grand wedding and a happily ever after.

It’s fine. After all, she doesn’t want them both.

At the same time. In her bed. Like, ever.

#FamousLastWords

Author note: This book contains a crazy girl, a crazy cat, and two super-hot boys.

The story is funny, but also dark and angsty. It is NOT a love triangle. It is a relationship between three people (and a cat) with a happy ending.

Reconnaissance.

With a wink at Simone, I get up from my rowing machine and grab my towel, then make my way toward him.

This is a huge gym, new, the machines gleaming, the people dressed in trendy exercise clothes, their MP3 players flashing as they move. Strong, lithe bodies, with barely any hint of sweat.

Self-consciously I adjust my top. It’s like everyone passed an exam to enter. It makes me wonder how Simone and I made the cut.

Not that I don’t take care of my body. I sure do, and I even drag my best friend Candy along when she’s not too busy having wild sex with her two boyfriends.

Two. Boyfriends. Did you catch that?

Total overkill if you ask me. And still no idea how she did it. I’ve been trying to get one guy—Ryan—for the past year, one—and still no dice.

It doesn’t matter. It will be worth it in the end. Not everyone gets their soulmate on the first try.

Or the hundredth, for that matter. Hundred-and-twenty-fifth to be precise. Hey, it’s a good number. These things take work.

And I do work it as I approach Ryan, as Simone advised me to do after watching Pretty Woman, swinging my hips and lifting my chin, letting my ponytail swish against my back.

He’s getting ready to start, draping his manly black towel on the seat of a rowing machine and… whoa.

Red alert. His T-shirt molds to an impressively sculpted chest and set of shoulders, his corded arms in full display, a picture straight out of Men’s Health magazine.

Holy guacamole.

Woo.

But of course I shouldn’t be shocked. I chose him. He’s everything a man should be. He just has to see I am the girl for him.

That’s why he’s single. He’s been waiting for me all along.

Genre: erotic romance
Themes: menage

Joel and Jethro. Roommates. Total hunks. Inseparable friends. Hot as hell.

Meet my fantasy boyfriends. Aren’t they just the sexiest, cutest thing? I know, right? They totally are. They are hot, too hot for a quiet—and obsessed with them—girl working in a bookshop.
That’d be me, by the way.

There’s also the tiny problem of Joel wanting another girl. And as for Jethro, well… he doesn’t do girls. Or maybe he doesn’t do relationships. He certainly doesn’t do boys, so he isn’t doing his best and very male friend… right? Much less his male friend and me at the same time.

So it’s fine to crush on them. And write a serial story on my blog in which we have tantric sex in every possible position.
All three of us. Together. Touching, and licking, and sucking, and screwing.
Whew.

I mean, it’s okay. It’s perfectly safe. They’ll never even know I exist, much less find out about my blog and my secret fantasy about them.
Right?

…Yeah, that’s what I thought, too.

Warning: This book contains two super-hot boys and a nerdy, funny girl who has the hots for them. It includes boy on boy fun, and girl on boy, and boy on girl, and girl on boy on boy, and, well, you get the picture.

Warning 2: This book may set you on fire. Handle with caution.

Warning 3: This book is funny, and dark, and angsty. It is NOT a love triangle. It is a relationship between three people with a happy ending.

Review

Heat: ★★★★
Rating: ★★★★

How does one go back to writing a story when reality is so much better?

I found this to be a wonderfully refreshing deviation from Raven’s typical work. She tends to have a particular formula used in many of her other books, yet this one, whilst maintaining aspects of this, manages to come out and be her strongest release yet.

I thought it was an interesting take on the menage theme to have one member having to work on accepting his sexuality, whereas the norm tends to focus on the acceptability of the three-way aspect. Similarly, I really liked the characterisation of Candy, a book blogger nerd, confident in her sexuality and sexual interests (if not a little stalkerish).

More than that, this was funny. Not laugh-out-loud and snort-out-of-your-nose funny, but funny enough to put a smirk on my face for much of the first part. It did get a little more serious towards the end, with Jet taking the role of thetypical Raven hero, a guy with a dark past who finds comfort and hope in love. Although I have to admit I started finding this formula slightly irritating, here it works well because it is balanced perfectly by Joel’s character and his own angst and difficulty with self-acceptance.

Does taking it in the ass constitute the foundation of a steady relationship?

It wasn’t perfect, however. Much as I liked Candy’s characterisation and strength, I found her narrative voice a little irritating, particularly when name-dropping romance authors for no apparent reason, and calling her vagina a “kitty”. I couldn’t quite get past that one. Similarly, there were maybe a few too many things going on here, each person having their own angst and background, with the drama maybe a little forced, particularly with Joel.

I like them curvy. I like them sweet. I like girls who like sex and can tell me what they want, so I can give it to them deep and hard.

Despite its flaws, this was a fun, steamy ride, and a very promising new direction for Jo Raven. I hope she branches out more into the romantic comedy genre in future.

Bad-boy heir to the Fleming Group empire, Jamie “Hawk” Fleming, at your service.
Here’s the breakdown: my father has been thrown behind bars on murder charges, and my mother as accessory. That was three months ago, and since then, everything has been a downhill ride.
The only thing keeping me sane right now is Hot Body. Her name is Layla, and all that matters is that she’s gorgeous, sexy, and great in bed.
Until I wake up tied up and gagged, Layla standing over me. Sounds promising, huh? A pretty girl, maybe handcuffs and a whip?
But that’s not our scene, and the pissed-off men who kidnapped me are lurking in the shadows, ensuring that this experience won’t be fun at all…

Title: Hawk
Author: Jo Raven
Series: Sex & Bullets #2 (can standalone but better if the others are read)
Genre: erotic romantic suspense
Rating: ****

This was a brilliant romantic suspense, particularly when read after the novella prequel, Caught. The characters are brilliantly well formed, the chemistry sizzling, and Jo Raven’s hottest, dirtiest sex scenes yet.

In places, the plot was pretty predictable, but this was overcome by how intrigued I was by the storyline, and how much I was rooting for Layla and Hawk to solidify their growing relationship.

Highly recommended, and now I have to go back and read Storm to fill in some of the backstory. If you have the choice, read rhat first – although Hawk can standalone and is very strong in itself, it feels like the backstory is necessary for full enjoyment.

The moment I met HAWK, I was CAUGHT.
That was the night my boyfriend called me frigid in front of everyone at my favorite restaurant, and Jamie Hawk Fleming came to the rescue. Casually as you please, he proposed an arrangement: no attachments, no feelings. Only hot, awesome sex.
That’s fine with me. I want to get over the humiliation my ex-boyfriend caused me, prove to myself I’m not frigid, and—let’s be serious, who can say no to a mouthwateringly handsome young millionaire? It’s surely an experience, right? Even if he doesn’t want to be my boyfriend, just my fuckbuddy.
I’m perfectly fine with that.
If only my head—and my heart—didn’t have other ideas…

Title: Caught
Author: Jo Raven
Series: prequel to Hawk, Sex & Bullets #2
Genre: erotic romance
Rating: ****

A nice, short prequel to the second instalment of Jo Raven’s Sex and Bullets series. This successfully introduced the main characters of the full book, and I already love them after just this. It’s incredibly steamy and the perfect appetiser to the real deal. I can’t wait to read the rest of their story.
