“You don’t know what he’s capable of.”

“You don’t know what I’m capable of.”

Jett Fox has been surrounded by women his entire life. He knows what makes them tick, how to make them feel beautiful, and how to work their feminine wiles to his advantage. Honing sexuality is in his blood.

It’s his gift.

Jett is accustomed to women eating out of the palm of his hand, but when a tall, mysterious, redheaded goddess strolls into Mansion – his domain – the eccentric Dom finds himself enamored. She becomes an obsession in his dark, secretive, and dangerous underworld – a world that appears one way on the outside but is entirely different within.

Forced to maintain the ruse at all costs, he’ll walk a treacherous line between allegiance and lust, deliberately deceiving the one woman who means anything to him.

But the mysterious redhead has secrets of her own – secrets inlaid so deep they could threaten to tear both their hearts, and worlds, and livelihoods apart.

Heat: ★★★★
Rating: ★★★

Reviewer’s note: although this can standalone, I would highly recommend reading this series from the beginning, starting with Owned, to heighten your enjoyment.

How complicated this woman is. How embroiled and tangled. I want to know every puzzling piece of her intimately, starting with how she sounds when she comes.

I’ve been waiting for Jett’s book for a while now, as this series and group of characters have been wonderful to follow for these five books. I’m presuming this will be the final instalment, and I admit I feel slightly emotional at that fact.

This final instalment goes back to before the beginning of Owned, overlaps it slightly and finishes at around the same point. I enjoyed seeing Kayne, Ellie and Juice come in and out of this novel, without any of it seeming forced at all, which can happen fairly often with interlinked standalones.

“When we’re together, I want all your pleasure and all your pain.”

In some respects, I was hoping for something a bit darker. Although it started off that way, the darkness petered out fairly quickly, and then it became about healing through the comfort Jett and London found in one another. The sex scenes were, as ever, nice and dirty, but it would have been nice to have had a bit more of the kink found in the other instalments that we know Jett and London are so capable of.

Although I did really enjoy reading this, I couldn’t help but feel like I was left just a little disappointed. My enjoyment stemmed mainly from the fact that Jett is my favourite character in the series, but I found that I actually liked him more when he was in a supporting role. The character didn’t quite seem so consistent to me with this – and the same would go for London, but I feel like her journey was deeper and more emotional, more poignant, so the difference in character is more understandable.

“Stop bullshitting me, little bird. We all have secrets. Some bigger than others. Some darker than others.”

A welcome addition to the Decadence After Dark series, Elicit is an enjoyable, hot read but suffers from a familiar plot explored earlier in the series. This felt, to me, like a decent example of having had too much of a good thing. But I’m looking forward to whatever direction M. Never goes in from here.

One hundred and eighty thousand words of Pulse-Pounding heat, raw passion and insatiable love!

Owned (Book One in The Decadence After Dark Series)

“I like you collared, baby. I like you naked, I like you mine.”
Ellie Stevens has lusted over Kayne Roberts since he first walked into the import/export company she works for a little over a year ago. As Expo’s most important client, Ellie has always kept a safe distance from the man with the majestic blue eyes – until temptation finally gets the better of her. Impulsively, Ellie invites Kayne to one of Expo’s infamous company parties her flamboyant boss is notorious for throwing. Unbeknownst to Ellie, the god in the Armani suit isn’t just the suave entrepreneur he portrays himself to be. Underneath the professional exterior is a man with a secret life, dark desires, and nefarious contacts.
In a hidden corner of a trendy New York City lounge, the spark kindling between the two of them ignites. Unable to resist the sinful attraction, Ellie agrees to leave with Kayne, believing she is finally bedding the man of her dreams. Little does she know when she walks out the door, she’s about to be Owned.

Claimed (Book Two in the Decadence After Dark Series)

With one look he consumed me.
With one touch he marked me.
With one kiss he owned me.
With one whisper he claimed me.
“No matter where you go or who you’re with, you’ll always be mine.”
Ellie Stevens thought she had moved on from the domineering man who abducted her. Now living in Hawaii and following her dreams, no one is going to keep her down. But things aren’t always as they seem.
Kayne Rivers reluctantly let Ellie go, but just because she’s gone now, doesn’t mean she’ll be gone forever. She is his, and he won’t stop until he’s reclaimed her as his own.

Ruined (A Decadence After Dark Novella)

Kayne Roberts.
Kayne Rivers.
Kayne Stevens.
No matter his name, one fact remains the same. He’s the man who enslaved me, ensnared me, claimed me and ruined me…For all other men that is.
My life.
My love
My happiness.
All belong to him.
I belong to no one but him.
He owns me.
And I own him.

“Life’s too short not to have sex or eat chocolate cake.”

For some reason I actually preferred the relationship and chemistry between CJ and Tara than I did between Kayne and Ellie (despite the lack of BDSM-style sex within this instalment). Both characters were strong and independent, with a wicked sense of humour and some crazy crazy love of sex, and just work absolutely brilliantly together.

“Tell me a secret.”

The pace of this book was much better than the previous ones, with the plot unfolding and developing slowly throughout rather than being left until the very end, and also being pretty suspenseful too. It was also lovely to have the involvement of characters from the other books, but in a way that feels highly natural, as opposed to forced.

A funny, steamy read – and, I believe, leaving enough scope for a second instalment on CJ and Tara should M. Never desire to tell us more of their story.

Ruined is a short, sweet epilogue to the relationship between Kayne and Ellie that has unfolded over two dark instalments. The darkness is gone, and this wonderful little gem just finishes their story absolutely perfectly, wrapping it all up.

This novella begins four years after the events of Claimed, and deals with acceptance and overcoming these emotional scars for the future. Not only has Ellie and Kayne’s relationship matured hugely (Kayne, at this stage, is now someone I would happily add to my book boyfriend list), but their deep friendships (!) with London and Jett are also wonderful to delve a little further into. Jett is still my boy – all the way through!

This is, for me, the best, and steamiest, instalment of the series.

Claimed begins a year after the conclusion of Owned, following Kayne and Ellie’s journey back to one another. I actually enjoyed this more than the previous instalment, which for me wasn’t quite dark enough; this book does not try to be so dark, and although it has dark elements, particularly towards the end, it was nice to have Kayne give Ellie a bit of control as to how their relationship would progress. It was particularly interesting to have both characters develop in such a way that they could come to terms with who they really were, their past, and what they really wanted.

Kayne is my drug of choice and I can’t wait to get high.

Although I still found Kayne’s attempts to justify his behaviour irritating, the fact that this book had much less darkness meant it was easier to focus on and understand his past. I have to admit though, I’m still more of a Jett fan than a Kayne fan! I also once again wish the subplot had a little more focus than just in the last part of the book.

“No matter where you go or who you’re with, you’ll always be mine.”

Overall, a strong read, well-written and positively filthy.

This was a strong book, very well-written with plenty of dark yet achingly erotic scenes. There was a very interesting subplot, which perhaps could have taken more prevalence and development throughout the book rather than being confined to the end.

“I like you collared, baby. I like you naked. I like you mine”.

Although Ellie was very sassy (as you probably know by now, I can’t stand silly female leads), my main gripe with this book was that I just didn’t like Kayne. In the beginning of the book, his humour and the twinkle in his eyes was mesmerising but that man was gone after the first few scenes, becoming someone who, frankly, was a little whiny in his POV chapters, trying to excuse his behaviour based on his past. I’d rather, in dark romances, the offending character actually just owns that he is like that, and accepts it – unfortunately, I just felt like it massively lightened what could have been a very dark read.

Overall, it was good – great, even. Just not successful in its attempt at darkness.
