What’s harder than resisting one Dane man? Resisting two.

I don’t date bikers. It’s my one cardinal rule. No rough, rugged, tattooed egotistical maniacs on two wheels. Even if they are gorgeous, brilliant, and sport the prefix Doctor. Bottom line, bikers are nothing but trouble.

T.R.O.U.B.L.E

Dr. Devlin Dane has had his sights set on my panties for months. But I’ve done a stellar job of fending him off. As Mercy Medical’s most eligible bachelor, he has no problem in the panty dropping department. He’s tall, dark, and inked all over. I get the appeal, I’m not dead. I’m not stupid either. He’s a walking heartbreak waiting to happen.

But when Reese Dane comes crashing into my life – literally- the game suddenly changes.

Reese, the dark, brooding, motorcycle racing champion, knows exactly how to apply the right pressure on and off the track.

The two have an unstoppable pull like centrifugal force, and both bad boy bikers are determined to take me on a high-powered ride I’ll never forget…

Sneak Peek

“I’m not overreacting! You can’t just pass me around to all your biker buddies and think it’s okay! I’m not a fucking wrist watch you can just throw into the pot!”

Kayla, do you honestly think I would’ve put you up if I knew I couldn’t win? That I would let anyone else touch what belongs to us?” Reese crowds me into a corner.

 “Us?” I squeak. Wait, what?

“Yes. Us. Mine and Dev’s.” He enunciates the words. “You. Are. Ours.”

 There’s that word again. Ours.

 “I don’t understand.”

“Baby, I think you do. I think you’ve always known where we would end up.” Reese cages me in with his arms.

Dev materializes over Reese’s shoulder, and I internally hyperventilate. I don’t know who to look at first as my gaze compulsively darts between the two of them. Two, beautiful, roughneck men, who both look like they want to have me for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

“How . . . how would this even work?” I crazily entertain the idea.

Both their faces split with a fiendish smile. I must have asked the million-dollar question.

Reese leans in closely, stopping my heart. “Let us show you,” he murmurs so seductively my knees nearly buckle. I throw a questioning eye at Dev and he nods confidently.

“You both want this?” I ask with a small voice.

“It isn’t about what we want anymore. It’s all about you now,” Dev voices.

 Holy. Fuck.

“Say yes, Kayla.” Dev’s tone is soft and velvety. Irresistible. “Say yes to us.”

I press my back against the wall praying for composure, but the longer they trap me, the more the pressure builds, the more my want fights to the surface, and my resolve falls away into oblivion. I find myself nodding because my ability to speak has become paralyzed.

“Good girl,” Reese breathes before he throws me over his shoulder like a caveman.

“Hey!” I grab onto his shirt.

He swats me on the butt as he makes his way to the stairs. “Ouch!” I flail.

“That’s for bouncing out on me. Never do it again. Got it?” He hits me once more for good measure.

 “Fuck you.” I flinch.

 “In due time, baby.”

I lift my head as Reese climbs the stairs with Dev hot on his heels.

Reality suddenly strikes. Is this really happening?

“Relax.” Dev traps my chin gently. “We’re going to take care of you. And make you feel so good.” He pushes some dangling hair away from my face so I can see him. He’s incredibly calm despite the carnal look in his eyes.

Once in my small room, Reese drops me on the bed. They each flank one side, making me feel like a trapped animal.

I kneel in the middle of the mattress at a loss at what to do next.

“Strip, baby,” Reese instructs as he unzips his leather jacket and pulls the gun from the back of his pants, placing it on my nightstand.

 I stay frozen in place.

I know I’m supposed to move, but what’s clearly about to happen hasn’t sunk in yet.

“Need some assistance?” Dev crawls up behind me and kisses my neck. A switch flips. My eyes immediately roll backward. Yes, please, touch me. Both of you, please touch me.

Review (from the Goodreads archvies)

★★★★

I went into reading this book with the expectation of another formulaic romance story, but was quickly proven wrong when it came to address polyamorous relationships, health conditions and rather dirty threesome scenes (with the occasional BDSM-lite touch). M. Never has managed to craft this alt-romance so carefully, injecting darker undercurrents throughout which culminate in the conclusion of the book in a completely unexpected way. It was an emotional ride all the way through, but rather than a typical HEA, I was left feeling somewhat empty due to the bittersweet ending.

Although the plot was pretty much all centred on the complex relationships between the three main characters, the main flaw of the book was the lack of development of the side plots – Kayla’s aunt Sam’s work on the drugs issue, and the Viper, introduced as a villain, which I feel were too quickly and easily concluded – but perhaps M. Never has left this open to explore in an offshoot instalment, which I think would work very well.

Overall, Moto breaks the lite-romance formula by crafting a darker, deeper story of connections, and a genuinely upsetting ending.

I short, sharp read, I finished this first instalment in about an hour – but don’t let that put you off. It was a glorious hour of a strong (if not psychotic) woman, comfortable with her sexuality and her independence. A mistress of manipulation.

I figured only the strongest people could muster up the will to never look back, but after a while I learned it didn’t take a brave soul, but rather the kind of person who has a heart of black…”

This was a hot read, with sexual scenes involving collars and leashes, dirty talk, face fucking and group sex – most of which resulted in a certifiable one-handed book (if you’re into that kind of thing); some of which I wished had been described in a little more detail, such as the group sex scene.

Coldplay on the iHome and bubbles in my bath while I light a joint, drink a glass of wine and masturbate to the thought of the life I just took only moments ago.

If you’re after romance, there isn’t any here. This is a woman dealing with multiple men in her life – her complicated relationship with her father-figure (who, it has to be said, was my favourite), her friendships with Linc and Joseph, and couple more casual ones thrown in for good measure. It’ll be interesting to see where these relationships go in the sequels, but even if it’s nowhere, gimme more filthy sex and I’ll be happy.

Taking my face in between his hands, Theo looked down at me and pressed a gentle kiss to my lips. “You are mine,” he whispered as he slowly eased his cock inside my waiting cunt.

This was a highly enjoyable quick read. It wasn’t perfect – I wasn’t so keen on the voice, which in some ways felt like a stream of consciousness, and I really hate flashbacks (I prefer past events to be written in chapters set in the past as it makes for a more seamless read). It also could have had more detail in the assassinations to make it a little darker. But regardless of that, the concept and characters were intriguing to make me keep reading, and make me want more.

“They called it a cult. I called it home.”

ABIGAIL
I don’t regret running away from home six years ago. I wound up at Good Souls, a secluded farm where I could fight my dark, dirty impulses and remain pure. I knew that soon I would receive the ultimate reward: ascension straight to heaven. Then the police raided our farm and took everything away. They called it being “rescued.”
I had nothing: no family or friends, just an empty apartment in New York. The other women from the farm barely spoke to me. Our leader, Brady Booker, was missing, and my therapist wanted to convince me my sexual urges were normal, and that ascension was a lie.
For so long I believed my hunger for discipline and restraint was the work of demons tempting me to sin. Then I met Mason. Dominant and handsome, he made me feel good… even if I am sick…

MASON
For ten years I’ve been on the hunt, trying to fix a mistake that cost me everything. Obsessed with righting the wrongs of my past, I lost touch with my friends and family; I lost my badge; I lost all semblance of a normal life.
I never should have let Abigail Lamb get under my skin. Just when I’d caught a break, when I thought the end was in sight, she stood in my way. Beautiful, but brainwashed, her tragic past and thirst for submission drew me in and held on tight. I couldn’t resist, even if it meant jeopardizing my mission.
Now I have no choice. I can’t let her go, not until I get what I need. I’m going to finish what I started, even if that means becoming a monster…

Publisher’s note: “Good Sick” is a psychological, new adult dark romance story with explicit sexual content, including BDSM practices, with no cliffhangers, no cheating and a HEA.

Watch out, Abbi, I thought in Brady’s voice. The demons are going to be coming for you.
Let them come.

This is the first book I’ve read by Sansa Rayne/Sasha Rich – and I found it thrilling and steamy. It has a wonderfully original plot, following the life and re-intergration of Abigail in society, after she is rescued from a cult. It’s aninteresting concept, and I enjoyed the BDSM interlinking with this brainwashed mentality.

The sex scenes were clearly written from someone who knows her stuff, and this was absolutely one hot read – apart from the use of euphemisms like “orifice” and “rod” (I’m afraid to say I’m a pussy/cunt/cock/dick kinda girl)!

She was my kind of sick, and I couldn’t let that go.

The reason I can’t rate this book any higher is that, despite the brilliant plot and the potential for greater things, Rayne has a tendency to fall into the telling, not showing category of writers – describing sexual acts (and general plot events) physically, but not quite delving into the emotional, internal aspect and properly conveying the characters through the medium of reading.

There was a lot that could have been covered here, and I wanted a little more detail into the mental aspect and rehabilitation of Abigail, both with Mason and her therapist; it all happened perhaps too quickly and neatly to have been fully believable.

“The agony of the body feeds the serenity of the soul.”

Absolutely worth a read, this is an author I’m excited about following, and about watching her writing style develop. Let’s hope for more emotion (and actually more darkness, too) in future works.

There isn’t really a huge amount I can say here. This is a free, very quick read which will either satisfy you if you’re an existing Sloane fan (like me), or act as a little taster of her other work if you’re not.

I want to add that I never read the shorter version of this story when it was publishing in an anthology, so this is a review from someone reading this for the first time. If you have read it, I’m told there were a fair few more words added, and because it’s free it’s probably well worth checking out again.

Nina Hale, the girl who couldn’t get anything better than an entry-level temp job, was about to go down in flames, and Nina the porn star would rise in her place.

The sex was (as ever), hot as fuck, Sloane’s writing was (as ever) flawless. I loved the characters, which managed to be surprisingly developed even for such a short read. I’m not sure how much this instalment really added to the series, and it certainly didn’t have any closure, but it was enjoyable regardless, and absolutely passed the wet test.

Hopefully Sloane will write a full-length instalment for Scott and Nina.

Reviewer’s note: although this can standalone, I would highly recommend reading this series from the beginning, starting with Owned, to heighten your enjoyment.

How complicated this woman is. How embroiled and tangled. I want to know every puzzling piece of her intimately, starting with how she sounds when she comes.

I’ve been waiting for Jett’s book for a while now, as this series and group of characters have been wonderful to follow for these five books. I’m presuming this will be the final instalment, and I admit I feel slightly emotional at that fact.

This final instalment goes back to before the beginning of Owned, overlaps it slightly and finishes at around the same point. I enjoyed seeing Kayne, Ellie and Juice come in and out of this novel, without any of it seeming forced at all, which can happen fairly often with interlinked standalones.

“When we’re together, I want all your pleasure and all your pain.”

In some respects, I was hoping for something a bit darker. Although it started off that way, the darkness petered out fairly quickly, and then it became about healing through the comfort Jett and London found in one another. The sex scenes were, as ever, nice and dirty, but it would have been nice to have had a bit more of the kink found in the other instalments that we know Jett and London are so capable of.

Although I did really enjoy reading this, I couldn’t help but feel like I was left just a little disappointed. My enjoyment stemmed mainly from the fact that Jett is my favourite character in the series, but I found that I actually liked him more when he was in a supporting role. The character didn’t quite seem so consistent to me with this – and the same would go for London, but I feel like her journey was deeper and more emotional, more poignant, so the difference in character is more understandable.

“Stop bullshitting me, little bird. We all have secrets. Some bigger than others. Some darker than others.”

A welcome addition to the Decadence After Dark series, Elicit is an enjoyable, hot read but suffers from a familiar plot explored earlier in the series. This felt, to me, like a decent example of having had too much of a good thing. But I’m looking forward to whatever direction M. Never goes in from here.

Sneak Peek

This would be the first meeting where I would see my lover face-to-face.

He’d left strict instructions for me to sit at the table he reserved for us. He requested I sit with my back to the entrance. This tricky move on his part allowed no way for me to see him as he entered. If his intention was to control and torture me, it was working. A loose strand of hair tickled my cheek, so I tucked it behind my ear.

I watched for the waiter, again wanting that drink, but as much as I hated being outside my comfort zone, I loved the naughty, decadent feeling I got from doing something simply because my Master told me to. When I submitted to his demands, I stepped outside my safe little world, the one where my ex-husband ignored me for years, where I felt inconsequential. With him I wasn’t invisible. He relied on me.

Sure, it was for things of a sexual nature, but to me, that was something, and I felt fulfilled for the first time in ages.

A few months ago, when I’d been supremely pissed at my cheating husband, I went online. I admit it, I’d been looking for trouble, which was mind-numbingly easy to find. I hadn’t intended to find a darker side of myself with needs that shocked me. I’d never meant to find someone. I’d merely been looking, searching—for what, I wasn’t sure.

What I did find was a whole new world of dominance and submission, self-inflicted pain as well as pleasure, and sexual satisfaction with a stranger. A man who reached out and touched me in corners of my soul I hadn’t known existed. We spoke every day, I performed sex acts upon myself at his command, and sent him reports on the intimate and sometimes humiliating tasks he gave me.

I was his submissive, and he was my Master, and every aspect of our relationship took place over the internet. I addressed him as “Sir,” but in our chats he went by the moniker, “MC.” We communicated via Skype, email, chats, and the occasional phone call, never seeing one another. That is, until today.

I had insisted we not use cameras, even though he implored me to do webcam “sessions.” My privacy was of the utmost importance to me, so I always refused. I’m a kindergarten teacher and couldn’t take the risk of being videotaped. So the only notion I have of what my Master looks like is a product of my imagination.

But today he flew to Houston to meet me in person. To have a real “play date.” In the flesh. A chill ran across my skin, leaving a trail of goosebumps in its wake.

Today I would finally meet the man who dominated me for the past few months. My stomach roiled with anticipation. What would he look like? Would it matter? Of course whatever he looked like, he wouldn’t be the “Master” I’d daydreamed about.

Things never worked that way. It would be like conjuring an image for the hero in a book. When a movie is made, the actor never matches the character in your head. It was always a disappointment.

I’d tried to prepare myself for that from the beginning. I never pictured MC to be a handsome movie star. Instead, I envisioned him as rather average, with salt-and-pepper hair and kind features. For some reason I pictured him wearing glasses, and possibly a beard.

In any case, it wasn’t his physical appearance that captivated me. MC awakened a primal response in me. He exposed my mind to a world in which I could be open about my sexual desires. A world where the wanton girl inside me was encouraged to come out and play, rather than squelched and pushed into a back closet where she had always lived. He controlled my sexuality, sensing my deepest, darkest needs. And it didn’t hurt that he made me feel cared for and cherished at a time when I desperately needed that.

My phone showed it was 5:12. Any minute now… The wait had been both excruciating and delicious at the same time—a perfect reflection of our relationship, a testimony to both pain and pleasure.

“Close your eyes, my pet.” The familiar voice was a sound I’d come to crave, and hearing it sent shivers of anticipation dancing down my spine. Suddenly, I wanted to freeze that moment in time, to stop while things were still beautiful between us, before reality could mar the fantasy…

This is an absolutely scorching read, easily passing the wet test, and something to be stored in the wank bank for future occasions.

When I submitted to his demands, I stepped outside my safe little world, the one where my ex-husband ignored me for years, where all my friends had children, where I felt inconsequential. With him I wasn’t invisible.

Having said that, I wasn’t sold completely. The concept of “cyber training” really intrigued me, particularly because some of the underlying reasons at present hit a little hard to home. The training scenes, although always super-hot, were written with a degree of space, slightly cold and clinical, more descriptions of what was being done than feelings, and some of the instructions were pretty complicated which detracted my attention from the actual scene. The fork thing at the beginning also confused the hell out of me (until I read further when I understood it).

In a weird way, he owned me. This man, whoever he was, had seen inside me, found the dirty little secrets that made me tick, and now he controlled me with them, taunted me with that knowledge.

It’s fantastic to read a book with such good dirty talk and a focus on humiliation through this. This is a particular like of mine and I don’t really read enough of it. However, some of the dirty talk felt a little forced, like it was done purely to shock rather than to excite, and was somewhat out of character. I also really didn’t like Sophie’s narrative voice, never quite warming up to her or MC (and never quite believing their chemistry or relationship, either). In fact, their relationship was hotter when it was anonymous than when they actually met, and this face-to-face part of the book felt rushed to me, especially the angst and conflict and its resolution.

Was it crazy to be in love with a man I’d never seen? A man I knew almost nothing about?

It wasn’t perfect, and I didn’t believe in the romance, and I still don’t really have a proper understanding of the characters. I wanted more about Sophie and Spencer’s divorce, and how her relationship with MC affected her real life and her mentality. But, if you’re after a decent one-handed read, or to delve a little deeper into the world of BDSM (with humiliation and dirty talk), then this is worth picking up. I enjoyed it enough to want to read the sequel.

Reviewer’s note: although this can standalone, full enjoyment will come from having read the first instalment in the series.

Hargrove and Laine have written a wonderfully hot erotic romance here, with enough depth to it to keep it interesting and more than just sex with no plot. I found this perfectly paced, a fairly quick read that managed to progress and develop at the right speed without leaving anything out, and allowing understanding of the characters and where they were emotionally.

I loved how this dived straight in, immediately to steam with no set up, something a little refreshing and different to many of the other romances I’ve read recently. And although their relationship was clearly set up in the previous instalment, I didn’t feel like I really missed anything crucial.

“I would gift you the stars just to see them twinkle in your eyes because you’re more than this, Gina. More than the sum of your experiences.”

My main gripe with the story was the lack of honestly between the characters, making the angst seem a little forced at times. I was also unable to really tell the ages of these characters, as although I feel they were painted to be mid to late twenties, they really did act immaturely and have younger voices. And, despite the super steamy sex, I never quite felt the sexual tension between the two characters which was a shame for me. Neither did I really grow attached emotionally to either character.

Above all, although (like everyone) I’m a huge fan of a happily ever after, I found that everything came together a little too easily and perfectly towards the end.

Regardless of its drawbacks, I really did enjoy reading this, particularly with its BDSM twist, and will be going back to read the first one.

Forget boy scout, he is more like a bondage ninja.

I have to say I went into this book expecting something completely different. From the synopsis, I believed I would be indulging in a highly erotic battle of power, with little substance other than a book full of wet dream material. And although this had elements of that, particularly the first 50%, it then turned suddenly into a much more suspenseful read, much deeper than my expectations. In fact, the suspense plot was, to me, more interesting than the romance between Jason and Sam.

The first thing that struck me when reading this is that Palmer has a very formal way of writing, with little elision, which I struggled to get my head around until I was quite a way in and into the flow of things. I should point out that, as I received an ARC of an already released book, I’m not 100% sure if this was a pre- or post-edited version. But I really struggled to read on when St. Pancras station was consistently called “St. Pancreas”. This nearly became a DNF just because of that. There could also have been a few more commas to separate clauses; but, as I’ve said, once I really got into the engrossing plot, this particular style didn’t grate on me so much.

“Two Doms don’t make a right. We would not play well together.”

Plot-wise, it was refreshing to read about a new relationship with characters who actually make the effort to communicate, thus avoiding many of the potential angst-triggers in the entire romance genre. It was also refreshing to get that one major conflict out of the way around the halfway mark to be able to settle into the plot and relationship properly, rather than expecting something big to happen to temporarily ruin things. And when it started getting a little dark, that’s when I really got into the story.

Once again, due to my expectations, once the suspenseful narrative was underway I was expecting something pretty light. I read a lot of dark, so I can be hard to impress within this genre, but I have to say that Palmer did an excellent job of really making me feel that Sam was indeed in a truly perilous situation, rather than just a facade (if not, perhaps, a little melodramatic regarding Richard’s motives).

Juxtaposed with the darkness, this had a hopeful tone, with a very experienced dominant, Jason, who was never over the top with alpha behaviour, but rather was extraordinarily understanding and supportive; an excellent hero for a romance. He worked superbly with Sam and her past. And the sex scenes, particularly the shibari and the finale, were pretty hot, even if there were a few too many euphemisms for my liking.

I believe we are made for this, made for each other, and her breathtaking smile and soaking wetness clenching around my fingers are all the evidence I need.

Overall, a surprisingly suspenseful and deep read, with characters that worked well together, just hampered (for me) by the style of writing. Having said that, I’m sure others will get along with this style a lot easier than I have, so don’t let that deter you.

Would I read the original trilogy? Yes. I feel that I missed out on a lot of back story here that was just hinted at, and I want to read it for myself. I also believe there is a sequel in the making, and I will definitely be adding that to my TBR too.

Excerpt

Through the haze of her apple martinis, Ella spotted someone across the wide dining room. He was different from the other patrons there to celebrate the restaurant’s two-year anniversary. With an arrogant walk, he strutted across the stone floor. Lean, muscular, and blessed with one of those bodies women would always notice, he had dark blond hair and disquieting dark green eyes. He was the kind of guy who knew he was good-looking and let everyone else know it, too. She wasn’t usually attracted to that type, but this man—his confidence intrigued her.

“You’re Ella, Ella Winston,” he said in a voice like dark chocolate fondue: deep, and wickedly sexy.

“Yeah.” She almost dropped her drink. “I’m the sous chef.”

“I know. Marcus told me.”

As his smile sank to the depths of her belly, he extended his hand, but Ella ignored it.

Don’t touch him. You know what happens when you touch them.

“So, how do you know Marcus?” Ella quickly asked, hoping to make up for her rudeness.

He laughed, looking her over. Above the din in the room, she could sense something different about his laugh. Unlike the insincere chortle of others, this man’s laugh got to her. She was having an unusual physical reaction, something that never happened to her. When most men laughed, Ella usually ran away.

“Marcus and I share the same friends.”

“What friends are those?” she asked, craving another martini.

“The wealthy kind, who like to support the arts.” He raised a green bottle of sparkling water in his hand. “I’m a painter. Marcus and I know a lot of people who like to pretend they’re patrons and keep us gainfully employed.”

“Painter?” Ella shrugged, finding it hard to believe Marcus knew any painters. “What do you paint?”

“Portraits of women. Usually with very little clothing.”

Oh yeah, I need another drink. “Is that lucrative?”

“For me it is.”

Her eyes wandered around the dining room, desperate to find a rescue. Ella needed to get away from this man before she said or did something really stupid.

“Do you like art?” he pressed.

“Some art. I think it would depend on the passion I see in a painting.”

“The passion in a painting?” That laugh again. Her toes tingled. Not good. “You sound like a painter, Ms. Winston.”

The martini glass in her hand suddenly weighed a ton. “Isn’t painting a passion for an artist, like cooking is a passion for a chef? Having a passion is a healthy thing. It reminds us that we have a soul.”

He nodded, seemingly approving of her drunken ramblings. “That’s very profound and also very true. I think you have a lot of talents yet to be discovered, Ella. May I call you Ella?”

“Ah, sure. Ella is fine.” Her mouth went dry. “What makes you think I have any talents outside of cooking?”

“I have a sense for these things.”

She tensed. Can he tell? The same thought always haunted her when she met new people. Ella fought so hard to keep her secret under control. Time to make a run for it.

“Don’t let Marcus know I have other talents. He’ll probably fire me.”

She was about to depart when he stopped her. He leaned in, and she could just make out the small cleft in his pointy chin. “I promise, if you ever need a job, I’ll hire you.”

His mouth was so close she could have kissed his perfect, thin lips. Frightened by the notion, Ella backed away. “I’ll hold you to that.”

“I hope you do, Ella.”

She should have done a million different things: asked his name, gotten his phone number, or stayed to flirt with him some more. Instead, Ella walked away. She figured it was one of those moments in life she would live to regret. Fortunately, Ella found the bar and drowned her disappointment in another apple martini.

Ella reasoned that was the way of it. You meet people and move on, and one day, if you’re lucky, you meet the interesting ones again.

Review

Heat: 🔥🔥🔥
Rating: ★★

She was an outsider, a novice in the ways of pleasure, and therefore, an even mightier challenge. Training her would be his greatest work of art.

The first instalment I’ve read in this series, I felt that although it started strongly, leaving me intrigued about the relationship and where it would lead, it just fell a little flat for me. I understand that, although slated as a standalone, there were elements in these pages which have clearly been building up from the beginning, and are set to continue in the next instalment, which probably could have detracted from my reading experience. Although I’m not a huge fan of paranormal romance, the right one can really draw me in, but the abilities and sub-plot were so much into the background that they really held no interest to me at all – and unfortunately, neither did the romance aspect.

The characters seemed very one-dimensional, sticking to typical stereotypes (including the supporting cast), and I never once really believed in their relationship. I felt like the fact that the supporting cast had to continually hint at Ella and Ren’s feelings for one another, in a telling rather than showing manner (one of my pet hates), meant that I was directed how to specifically feel about certain situations, and unable to make up my own mind. They for some reason shared their entire backstories with one another very soon after meeting, leaving nothing for a later big reveal. I just found it pretty stilted.

The sex scenes had an unfortunate tendency to ‘fade to black’ just as they were getting interesting. I’m a fan of the dark and gritty, and the explicit and erotic, and this just didn’t quite do it for me. The scenes had a lot of potential but just weren’t exploited enough for my liking – and, once again, although I was told how turned on/in love these characters were, I really didn’t find it believable.

“Having a passion is a healthy thing. It reminds us that we have a soul.”

This is a shame; I was really wanting to enjoy it, the premise was very promising, and Weis’ writing is excellent and fluid. I just wasn’t sold on the characters or the predictable plot, or the attempt at darkness which didn’t quite pay off.
