[Review] Bane by L.J. Shen

Naked surfer. Habitual pothead. A con, a liar, a thief and a fraud.
Last I heard, he was extorting the rich and screwing their wives for a living.
Which is why I’m more than a little surprised to find him at my threshold, looking for my friendship, my services, and most puzzling of all—looking humbled.
Thing is, I’m on a boycott. Literally—I cut boys from my life. Permanently.
Problem is, Bane is not a boy, he is all man, and I’m falling, crashing, drowning in his sweet, perfect lies.

Jesse Carter
Hot as hell, cold as ice.
I wasn’t aware of her existence until a fat, juicy deal landed in my lap.
She’s a part of it, a little plaything to kill some time.
She is collateral, a means to an end, and a side-bonus for striking a deal with her oil tycoon stepdad.
More than anything, Jesse Carter is a tough nut to crack.
Little does she know, I have the teeth for it.

This book was everything…..

Well I have waited for this book for such a long time,…. and as I waded in I experienced a smidgeon of apprehension: would this latest offering, from one of my absolute favorite authors, meet my high expectations? was this the one that didn’t deliver? ..well of course I had no need to be concerned..Bane was everything and more than I had fact it was perfect.

I loved the main characters…Bane is a completely off limits surfer bad boy who is totally wicked and amoral and Jesse is a tough, no nonsense rich girl who has way too many bad experiences but remains resilient nevertheless …..from their first encounter there are sparks between these two, and once they ignite they are incendiary… this book sits in the Sinners of Saint series and whilst Bane is not a Hothole per se, he more than gives those guys a run for their money: he is an antihero, a charismatic badass with attitude..These two protagonists embarked on a journey of personal discovery and it was an honour to travel alongside them as they negotiated a sea of troubles..

So often I read reviews that say ..’this book was everything’… but this book truly was…this author’s voice makes for compelling reading; this book was gritty , raw and full of passion.. it had it all: drama, humour, drama, intrigue, drama, angst, drama and a searing hot love story…
