REVIEW: Encore by Ruth Clampett

I wanted to like this one a lot more than I actually did. It had a fantastic beginning, and a few points during which really piqued my interest and kept my intrigued, but unfortunately I had a few too many issues with it, which meant it took me longer than anticipated to finish. For me, it never became a book I was desperate to devour but remained one of what I term a ‘backburner’ book.

My most significant issue was just that I didn’t like either Ramon or Charlie. The latter was irritating and both were self-centred (with some major communication issues). In fact, I found the supporting characters much stronger and more developed, and that was this novel’s highlight.

My second issue was that there was just slightly too much drama going on, all of it a little far-fetched, and things resolved themselves far too easily for my liking.

With a long epilogue which focuses more on the supporting cast (my main interest) than the main characters, Encore may have failed to get me rooting for the main relationship, but it was certainly an erotic read.
