REVIEW: Tied by Carian Cole

This is a hauntingly beautiful story of two physically and emotionally damaged people who discover in each other the opportunity to heal and to move beyond the past… their lives become intertwined in ways they never could have foreseen…

This is the first book I have read by this author and I was so captivated by her writing style and the characters she has imagined on to the page….Holly’s initial reactions to a world that has moved on, while she was in hell, is wonderfully described and felt heartbreakingly particular her first visit to her family home was so moving….Tyler and Holly are such complex and dysfunctional individuals they are yin and yang complete opposites in so many ways and yet conversely they fit perfectly together……

The author has skillfully woven flashbacks of past experiences throughout the narrative; this is such a clever device because it adds a layer of emotion and demonstrates first hand how the simplest of actions or words can trigger an unsolicited and unwanted memory…. the tragic legacy of PTSD….

This is not a fast paced, action packed story but it is just as enthralling; it deals with sensitive subject matter which could have made it so depressing and yet in fact it is uplifting and even joyous in parts ….when all is said and done this is a story of love and longing for a happy ever after….This book was reviewed for Summer’s Eve Reads…
