REVIEW: Tragedy and Desire by Nicole R. Locker

Exciting and suspenseful story

This is a difficult book to review…I have to say from the outset that I really enjoyed it but it seemed like I was reading two books in one..the first half was a contemporary romance focusing on Jax, a bad boy billionaire and Perla a young, beautiful, slightly damaged woman and the development of their relationship coupled with an exploration of the tragic back story surrounding the heroine…the latter half of the book was a fast paced thriller with the two main characters at the centre of the action…

The story for the most part is told from the dual point of view of the main protagonists…I loved their interactions with plenty of confrontation , sexual tension and humour which made their relationship feel believable…there were several other interesting and complex secondary characters in particular Jada, Perla’s sister, Ezra, Jax’s best friend and Perla’s co-workers…I can see the potential for more books in the series focusing on these individuals in the future…

The dichotomy in the plot between the developing love story and the intriguing, action packed thriller could have made this difficult to read but in fact it worked and as a result this was both a hot, romantic billionaire romance and an exciting and suspenseful story with a satisfying finale and the promise of more to come…This book was reviewed for Summer’s Eve Reads…
